Korea Wrinkle & Skin Firming: Céramique Sofwave vs Thermage

For fine lines and skin that has lost firmness, ask first about dermis-level devices, not jawline lifting. Céramique Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul says Sofwave works on the mid-dermis and suits fine lines and firming, Thermage heats the dermis to improve laxity and skin quality, and Titanium combines firming with glow. The September promotion has ended, so confirm current prices at your consultation.

Fine Lines and Loose Skin: Which Korean Lifting Device Should You Ask About?

If your main concerns are fine lines and firmness, and your contour has not yet visibly sagged, ask first about devices that work on the dermis, not about the most expensive one.

Céramique Clinic has five lifting devices: Ulthera, Thermage, Titanium, Onda and Sofwave. According to the clinic, these three are most relevant to fine lines and firmness:

Sofwave: ultrasound that works on the mid-dermis, with a short treatment time, suited to fine lines and firming.

Thermage: radiofrequency that heats the dermis to stimulate collagen, improving laxity and skin quality.

Titanium: laser lifting with multiple wavelengths, combining firming and glow.

Fine Lines vs Sagging: Which Layer Is the Problem?

Fine lines and sagging involve different layers, so they need to be assessed separately. According to Céramique, Ulthera reaches the fascia layer (SMAS) and suits sagging contours, while Onda works on the fat layer and targets local fat such as the double chin and cheeks.

This is the approach of Director Lee Jong-jin, a doctor of aesthetic anatomy. He works out which layer to treat, from skin to fat to fascia, instead of applying the same treatment to everyone. If you have many fine lines and are also starting to sag, you may be advised to combine devices rather than use just one.

If your real concerns are pores, dullness or skin texture, Céramique also offers skin-care treatments you can ask about at the same time.

Four Things to Avoid When You Have Fine Lines

The most common mistake is arriving with a device name in mind without letting the doctor examine your face first. K-Clinic lists four things to avoid:

Requesting just one device: Céramique's strength is judging by facial structure, so hear the director's view before choosing.

Treating fine lines and sagging as the same thing: they involve different layers and are treated differently.

Going to a sauna or drinking right after treatment: the clinic advises avoiding saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise for a few days afterward, so schedule jjimjilbang and soju outings before your treatment.

Booking a weekend: Céramique is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, so only weekdays are possible.
